  2. Not a DM fan? I love them, so I'm quite excited. No yawning here.

  3. i saw them in 1998 or 99 at the forum- pretty fun show. but musically, they haven't done anything for me since 1989.

  6. I saw them a couple of years ago and they were fantastic. I'm bummed no US dates (yet). Los Angeles loves them.

P.S. Saw Sigur Ros and Dandy Warhols this week - AMAZING

  12. YES! Wow, if The Cure comes back, I will be spending A LOT of money next year

  13. I started out listening to Depeche Mode in the 90's and their music was always compared to The Cure. So I started listening to The Cure and have much love for both bands. I am VERY excited about both albums. Cure album this month, Depeche Mode album in April, Cure dark album in Summer?? It just doesn't get any better than that. (Except for maybe another new Nine Inch Nails album next year as well.)

  14. Nooo don´t spoil me with a rumour about a South American tour :D

I may even start to believe that 2009 will be a year with BOTH Cure and DM tours! Even with Fletcher from DM looking like a German Chemistry teacher

I guess that I´ll have to get another job.

  17. I'm excited for all the DM fans, but I still NEED my Wishful Thinking tour.

P.S. Hi everyone, life is good in sunny Queensland - but I am missing my cure friends HEAPS.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Elise - Welcome to Queensland!! Glad that your enjoying being here!
Are you holidaying on the Gold Coast?

    ReplyDelete
  19. i'm trying to remember, but where did the Wishful Thinking Tour title come from Elise?

  21. Thanks Andy! I like what I'm hearing. Especially the first song.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, thanks andythedmfan. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love that first song! It must leak tonight! : )

    ReplyDelete
  24. So the songs are named Wrong and Peace? That's what I'm seeing.

    ReplyDelete
  25. yep, i've been called andythecurefan, andythesmithsfan, and now thedmfan, great. always stick to my roots with the cure though. and i'm totally saving up for this!

    ReplyDelete
  26. elise!!! Stay away! Enjoy your Internet-free vacation! ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love Depeche Mode, can't wait to hear more.

But The Cure is way better in concert, sorry about stating the truth so bluntly.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Who wants to bet that DM's album will be released before 4:13 Dream?

    (JUST KIDDING!, i hope!!!!!!)

    ReplyDelete
  29. YO! My two favorite bands just happen to be The Cure and Depeche! Robert could learn a lot from them, too. Book studio time, record an album, and announce firm tour dates months in advance knowing the album WILL BE DONE ON TIME!! I'm starting to wonder if we'll hear the DM album before 4:13Dream!!

  30. This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by EMI Music

It looks like EMI had the "Wrong" and "Peace" clips taken down. :(

    ReplyDelete
  31. Said EMI spokeperson: It was Wrong, Peace dude!
We need to take it down...

    <_< bad I know.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Totally. I didn't listen to them last night because I wanted to wait until I wasn't sleepy to hear them for the first time. Didn't know the mighty "E" would strike before I had my chance! ;) I snooze, I lose!

  33. Andy: Any chance of uploading the file somewhere?

    download the file then.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Andy: Thanks. I downloaded it, but the clip doesn't have sound. Problem on my end?

    ReplyDelete
  39. The problem with Depeche Mode live is that they pretty much only play the 'Greatest Hits' and new songs.

And they rarely bring back songs from the past.

    ReplyDelete
  40. craig - i played it in VLC Media Player fine (videolan.org)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love Depeche Mode and I agree with millertime. I've seen them many times and they tend to play the same old, same old songs.

Still I'll most likely go because they put on a decent show and I haven't seen them for years.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Swifty - yes, I am here on the GOld Coast until Saturday and then we are off to Port Douglas for the week.

    Where are you?

Fantac- I can internet if I wanna!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hey Elise, I'm an hour up the road in Brissy. My wife works at the Coast...some mornings she spends at Dreamworld. Are you staying around Surfers/Broadbeach? Give me a buzz if you need any Gold Coast info or advice or anything really. :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hey elise!
I hope you're having a great vacation and the weather is beatiful!
Have fun, relax & enjoy your time off with your hubby! :)

Miss ya in morning chats but then I can't really get on much myself! My boss is on a rampage and it's all work work work. Oh well back to the grind........

    ReplyDelete
  45. Can't wait for Mode. First saw them in Toronto in 1990 (Violator) and have seen them three or four times since.

A great band that keeps putting out quality material.

    ReplyDelete
  46. That would be troublesome if DM's new album and The Cure's "dark" album came out simaltaneously. Which one to listen to first? Which one to give more attention to?

But at the same time that'd be pretty cool...

    ReplyDelete
  47. If they come out at the same time......Well hands down I'd listen to the possible Dark Cure Album (actually any new Cure album) many times before any new Depeche Mode Album. But eventually I'd get to DM's new stuff too. Maybe after 25 listens to The Cure before I switched over.

I love DM but no way I'd put a new album form them over a new Cure Album. The Cure are so much better! :)

  48. Swifty,
I am spending Saturday in Brisbane, wandering the city, waiting for our flight to Port Douglas. If you wanna catch up let me and hubby let me know.

warning - hubby is not a Cure fan (weirdo) - great taste in woman, crap taste in music!!!

Off to 'one' of the parks today - not sure which.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Elise: Some folks have real bad musical tastes don't they. What's hubby into? Bananarama or something:)
My wife thinks The Cure are weird and strange...she thinks they should name one of there songs Smash Smash Butterfly!! WTF!!!
Her cd collection probably isn't that abysmal, but personally Maroon 5 and Matchbox 20 etc leave me feeling cold.
Anyhow, Would be great to catch up however I work on Saturday 2 jobs, so I'll be busy from 10am - 10pm.
I'm free Friday evening if you'll be up here then. If not, have a good trip up north!
ps. My wife likes classical music so for our wedding ceremony a string quartet played JLH and POY...a nice compromise!

    ReplyDelete
  50. well, I'll be anxiously awaiting new DM and a tour that may or may not come to where I live... anyways PTA 'far' outweighed "The Cure" no holds barred... but The Cure at least changes up their setlists for live shows far more... WTF I'd go see DM regardless if they play the same songs all across the universe..

    ReplyDelete
  51. Swifty - I am glad I am not the only person with a partner with "different" musical taste. but I loved your wedding compromise!!!

Wow - two jobs! You are busy man. Oh well, maybe we can catch up another time.

Our flight out of Brisbane is at 9PM, so I don't think we will be able to catch up. What a shame.

Good to know where you are based though - everyone's time zones can get confusing on COF!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Elise- Yes, the time zones are crazy.Perth is probably 12 hours ahead of CMT ie Craig Mean Time, so you just swap am/pm around and thats the time at COF central!
I might sound busy, but dont worry, I don't work too hard.

A shame about our schedules...it would have been nice to meet up for a mini-Curedrink with you.
See you some time then !
Have a great remaining holiday !

PS On Saturday arvo..until 4.30.. my work number is 33791848. I'd be happy if you called for a quick hello. Ask to speak to Swifty, but I may answer. :*)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yeah! Got my tickets for Copenhagen :) Now I´m only waiting for Neil Halstead and/or Mojave 3 to come to Sweden or Denmark soon, then it makes the last couple of years complete concert-wise

    ReplyDelete
  54. Swifty - sorry I didn't call - we ended up changing to an earlier flight, so didn't have a lot of time to spare in brissy.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thats OK Elise. Sorry about Brissies weather on Saturday, it was pretty ordinary. Although we do need the rain!!
I retract my previous statement about not working too hard. Just had a really busy weekend and now I'm stuffed. Now i'm gonna relax in COF-land... soo excited about The Cure at the moment! :^)
