Robert sings on the new 65DOS album

Loooks like Robert will be doing vocals for a track on the new 65DaysofStatic album. From the 65DOS blog: "R. Smith sings words on ‘Come to Me’" (Thanks Jozef, Marcello, and Rie)

  4. 65DOS... ugh... they tried like hell to ruin the whole 4tour with their worthless noise... it will be ok for a track... but come one robert... work with some real talent...

  5. @ Zap

65DoS is actually real talent. So what they are an instrumental band. For what they do, they do it pretty well. It is excellent work out music, driving music, or running off the co-workers that are bothering you music.

  9. Wow! Now THAT is good news. I'm so glad to see Robert doing a collaboration with a group as TALENTED as 65DOS. I think they were a fantastic and powerful support on the 4Tour. Dare I say, I enjoyed their set almost as much as I enjoyed The Cure's! I'd like to see them support The Cure again in the future. Maybe for a certain Dark Tour?? ;) I believe I'm more excited to hear this than I am to hear his interpretation of Very Good Advice. Let's hope "The Spring" brings more great news like this after Disintegration drops. :)

  14. I'm very intrigued with vocals for 65DOS. Caught them the night before Cure show in NYC at Mercury Lounge. They are talented musicians and cool guys.

  15. "32 Minutes of Noise"
That's what I dubbed these guys after the 4Tour show I went to. The most awful opening act I have ever heard/seen.

Robert focus your energy on getting the Dark Album released and save the cameo appearances for retirement ...

  16. good news! better than a new cure track!!!

    @Zap and rob:
IMO 65dos was the best part of the whole 4tour. the only one who tried to ruin the tour was porl and i think he managed it very well! :-P

  17. When will Robert finally kill this awful, heavy and wanna-be-noisy entity called "The Cure" and make solo albums, dark and minimalist Johnny Cash style...?

Robert ! You're becoming like this french band "Indochine", like those awful dinosaur bands you hated before... It's terrible you seem to be running after your youth ! Leave the noise to the young ! Mogwaï, 65DOS, and the others don't need you !
    Kill the guitars !

  18. @Cult_Hero: For somebody not interested in The Cure anymore you're quite often checking the news, eh?

About 65DOS: Would have prefered a Mogwai or GIAA collaboration. From out of this three 65DOS is the least interesting. Still better than most of RS other collaborations so far.

  20. sorry guys... went to 2, 4tour shows and stand firmly behind my opinion that 65DOS was noise... not pleasant at all... i'm sure they are talented in the respect that they can play their instruments... but felt they had no depth, and the songs quite honestly weren't that interesting... certainly something missing... mainly a volume control and a vocalist.... turn it down... work on the mix a bit... and who knows... they could be good... but that wouldnt be them now would it...

  21. I saw 4 shows on the 4Tour and really enjoyed 65DOS every time,
chatted to them one afternoon in New York, they were super nice guys, and have bought all their stuff since.
Their Exploding Head Syndrome was by far the most interesting remix on Hypnagogic States EP, I'm glad Robert is working with them and am really looking forward to hearing the new album

  22. That's interesting. It's at the very least a better match than other suspicious collaborations.

  23. Well.. it IS creativity, it's getting the juices flowing - who knows, it may spurn Robert on to do greater things..
There's no harm in working with other projects, he obviously has alot to teach/offer people. It seems people that have worked with him get the favour returned in some way, shape or form which is a quality not seen very much these days.
Good on to you, Robert.. :P

  24. I also found their remix to be the most interesting piece of music on that remix cd, and in my opinion, I preferred most of their versions over the album tracks. I'm looking forward to how this turns out!

  25. I didn't like 65DoS live at ALL. They were way too loud (and I tend to like loud music) and I couldn't decipher one song from the next very well.

That being said, I was really dreading the Hypnagogic States mix from them based on my experience with them live. But after a few listens, their mixes became my favorites on the CD!

So, I think they have really good potential on an album but they need to work on their live act. I'm looking forward to hearing this collaboration.

  26. Interesting. Nice to see Robert staying busy! :P

  27. I think they are a fine band. They were a bit too loud, but I still enjoyed the performance.

I'm intrigued by the idea of Robert adding vocals; it's hard to imagine, and I'm really looking forward to it.

  28. A guy with no arms and no legs is lying on a beach and three ladies are walking by and they feel sorry for him.
The first lady asks him, "Have you ever had a hug?". The guy says no, so she gives him a hug and walks on.
The second lady says, "Have you ever been kissed?". The guy says no, so she kisses him and walks on.
Finally, the third lady says, "Have you ever been ******?". The guy says no, to which the lady replies, "You will be when the tide comes in"

Back OT, my interest in this collab is growing. Should be excellent!
