  1. About the camera situation, Debi has already been to a few shows while there and says "If you are sitting in the middle, they don't give a damn about cameras, especially if everyone is standing up. Ushers stay at the side aisles."

    ReplyDelete
  2. @Craig, but the other shows she might have attended haven't been filmed.

    ReplyDelete
  3. That's true. Though I think she went to Spiritualized and it might have been filmed? Not sure. Guess we'll still have to wait and see.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I went to Spiritualized, Cut Copy and Architecture in Helsinki. Triple J was filming Cut Copy. They are more focused on the band/stage. But people weren't constantly taking pictures and being annoying like they are in LA. A few here and there. And why bother trying to record it on a crappy camera when you have professionals doing it. Enjoy the show!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Thank you, Debi! And I agree. Take a few photos, but just enjoy this incredible show.

    ReplyDelete
  6. see you all in 3 and a half hours!

    ReplyDelete
  7. and it's 6AM South America (Brazil).

    ReplyDelete
  8. have a great time and let us know how the show is!!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I did my good deed for the day..
I was lucky enough to turn my FB on when Roger's post came through.
So myself an American fan I was with who needed 1st night tickets raced to the box office and she nabbed front row, dead centre!
So glad I was able to help and SO happy for her!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Excellent! Good job, notherbob!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oh man, wouldn't it be awesome if they did some b-sides!? I didn't even think of it because the likelyhood is slim. But these are some epic shows that who knows what will happen!

    ReplyDelete
  12. The word 'jealousy' does not amply describe the feeling that I'm experiencing right now.

If only Australia weren't, like, the farthest away from my home that you can be on this planet.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Have to play I'm Cold. And Charlotte Sometimes. The 2 real reasons why I became a Cure fan.

Nico: Exactly my feelings. So very far away, and so expensive to get there.

    ReplyDelete
  14. "SINKING" WOULD MAKE A GREAT ENCORE

    ReplyDelete
  15. I was listening to the radio this morning and I'm pretty sure the organiser of the Sydney Opera House's Contemporary Music program had a slip-of-the-tongue moment and referred to a symphony/ensemble as being organised for the show. Whether this plan for one fell through (or not), or whether he mistakenly said it (perhaps confusing it with the one that was organised for The Church), I'm not sure. I guess we'll find out tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Craig, if the encores differ each night. I think we should make a poll to see which we'd prefer on the DVD release. Or could we just say "all of them"?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sounds good to me. I'm voting for "all of them". : )

    ReplyDelete
  18. 2 more hours! Who wants coffee?

    *goes to brew a pot*

    ReplyDelete
  19. was anything ever confirmed (or not) about there being a live feed someplace? i know it doesn't make any sense since it's being filmed, but doesn't hurt to ask...

    ReplyDelete
  20. The gang's all here! We're all having drinks!
We're thinking of the people who weren't able to attend..

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sofia: Not that I'm aware of. Only possibility is something from Triple J, but I'm listening now, and there's been no mention of it.

Say hello from me, notherbob. Is Jo there?

    ReplyDelete
  22. @notherbob, hello from Los Angeles! :D Hope you have a good time!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm really interested to know if they will play 'A Reflection' or 'The Final Sound'.

But you know what? Now that I typed that, 'A Reflection' makes sense since it's The Cure: Reflections!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, they are doing every track on the albums. Well, maybe not Weedy Burton, but you never know! : )

    ReplyDelete
  25. So I guess it's safe to say they are playing a few b-sides tonight! Any way to get to Sydney in an hour? Didn't think so. : (

    ReplyDelete
  26. i'm getting exited now!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. The soundcheck list has be excited!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I hope they play Faith lolololol

    ReplyDelete
  29. Nah. They are skipping that one and doing Mint Car in it's place. : )

    ReplyDelete
  30. 45 minutes left!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. The tickets said there was no opener. I hope they don't take long to get onstage.

    ReplyDelete
  32. in berlin they started with 15 mins delay.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That shot you just uploaded Craig, is amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Going for work, now, will check this site the first thing when i got back again, good luck everyone and hope for an amazing show!!!! /Lasse

    ReplyDelete
  35. Isn't it? Wish I could give credit for the shot, but the person wants to remain anonymous.

    ReplyDelete
  36. When I first spotted that picture I thought Roger had shrunk haha.

    Robert is looking good!

    ReplyDelete
  37. You mean Heron's banner? No. That's what Stephen Pavlovic, Vivid curator, says Robert opened every email with. Aloha.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hitting play and cue: 10:15 Saturday Night.

More like 2am, Tuesday morning in Los Angeles.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Olivier and Lars say there's no Cure merchandise at the show. Just Vivid stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @Craig, I must have missed that one.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Running late? Have they hit the stage?

    ReplyDelete
  42. hopefully they didn't hit anything else;-)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Looks like the Fender VI is finally back !!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Someone on Cure Connections said they didn't see any Schecters.

    ReplyDelete
  45. i'm so so excited (and unfortunately in the office)

    ReplyDelete
  46. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I wonder how 'Another Day' is sounding.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Wow this is so exciting! So wish we all could be in Sydney right now!

    ReplyDelete
  49. The photos on the Music Network site aren't saveable so I'm finding other ways to get them. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Fender Bass VI and no Schecters? Hell yes, this is The Cure as they should be.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Found this pre-gig ambiance vid on youtube :

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HWLomM7I9E

    ReplyDelete
  52. so who took the mic for Foxy Lady?

    ReplyDelete
  53. soundcheck pictures: http://www.themusicnetwork.com/gallery/live-music-photos/live/the-cure-vivid-sydney-opera-house

    ReplyDelete
  54. @andythecurefan: the photos are saveable not in a high resolution but still

    ReplyDelete
  55. @GSC1, it didn't give me an option to save the picture once I clicked on it so I used another way.

    ReplyDelete
  56. ok fine. i just clicked on the image and it opened in an extra window and then i just clicked on the right mouse button and it gave me the option to save it. but fine when you found another way to save them. they look great. i'm still waiting on a picture of lol.

    ReplyDelete
  57. So no 'Weedy Burton'? Even as outro music?

    ReplyDelete
  58. 'Subway Song' http://yfrog.com/m9fqoxz

    ReplyDelete
  59. Nope. Olivier said no Weedy. :(

    ReplyDelete
  60. One album two more to go. That went by so fast.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Maybe as a backstage jam bonus on the dvd ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Fuji notes: "in the olden days that was IT!!! but...see you in a few minutes!!" RSX walking off stage at the end of 3IB

    ReplyDelete
  63. It's not the complete 'TIB' without 'The Weedy Burton'! Really, how much effort does it take to play a 53 second lazy jam? :P

    ReplyDelete
  64. hahaha...sets were much shorter in the old days. : )

    ReplyDelete
  65. @Shawn, we didn't even have a name for the track until the 2004 reissue. No biggie.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Maybe they'll save it for the 2nd night. : )

    ReplyDelete
  67. i thought that was always called "the weedy burton" named after the guitarist "bert" weedon and his guitar teaching book.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'll take that set list any day without Weddy Burton! It must have been amazing to see & hear it!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Andy, actually we did. It just wasn't listed on the album until the reissue. :) Craig, I hope so!

    ReplyDelete
  70. @GCS1, what i meant to say was that I don't think it was printed on the sleeve as a track. Wasn't it a hidden track?

    ReplyDelete
  71. I meant The Weedy Burton! Using a cell phone to post to Blogger is a real pain.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yes, hidden track. So hidden tonight we didn't even hear it! : )

    ReplyDelete
  73. Looks like 'A Reflection' is starting. According to Oliver.

    ReplyDelete
  74. @andy: absolutely correct. was a hidden track and was never printed on any of the sleeves world wide (until the reissue) but always known as "weedy burton"

    ReplyDelete
  75. @GCS1, you'll have to forgive me. I'm 22. Only a Cure fan for 8 years.

    ReplyDelete
  76. @andy: there is absolutely nothing to forgive;-)))))) great that you found your way to The Cure world!!!! now roger also on stage!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Wow! 'Secrets' is gonna be on the DVD!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that this is the first time that 'Secrets' has been played live since 1984.

    ReplyDelete
  79. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  80. @Shawn, won't tonight also be the first time 'Doubt' is played live?

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think Secrets was last played live in 1985. Unless the version I'm thinking of was mislabeled.

    ReplyDelete
  82. @Craig, does "sound like Forever" really mean it was? I need to hear more people say it before I believe it.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Alright...odd that it was played there. But Oliver and some CCC members are saying it was.

    ReplyDelete
  84. @shawn & andy: sorry for the mix up: secrets has been played as encore on the 1980 tour. doubt has never been played before!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. If Olivier says Forever, I will buy it. He knows his Cure.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Forever was instead of Three. Or however you want to look at that. : )

    ReplyDelete
  87. So our first surprise of the night. Many more to come. : )

    ReplyDelete
  88. And skipping A Forest and going straight to M.

    ReplyDelete
  89. well I always understood 'Three' to be the initial basis of 'Forever' which grew into an extended improvisation around the main riff of Three

    ReplyDelete
  90. Subway Song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ft4VN-z6Kw

    ReplyDelete
  91. GCS1, I know. I've heard at least a couple of recordings from The Top Tour, and yes, it was played in 1985.

    http://www.cure-concerts.de/main/1985.php

Andy, you're correct. 'Doubt' is one of the few non-b-sides to have never been played live.

By the way, what the heck is up with them skipping 'A Forest'? Isn't one of the objects of this to play the songs in order or their tracklisting?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Morning guys!

can't wait to see what the encores are! Wonder if there will even be any..

    ReplyDelete
  93. I meant "in order OF", not "or". :P

    ReplyDelete
  94. Hi, Sara! It's nice to see you here!

    ReplyDelete
  95. subway video: http://www.youtube.com/user/nbea001#p/a/u/0/0ft4VN-z6Kw

    ReplyDelete
  96. @Shawn, exactly.

I'm wondering why they just didn't save the surprises for after.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Sara: Will there be encores? You better believe there will be! : )

    ReplyDelete
  98. Probably saving A Forest to end the 17 Seconds set?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Craig, nonsense. We know that The Cure NEVER play encores. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  100. @shawn: secrets was definitely played during the 1985 tour! i remember that clearly and for further infos: http://www.cure-concerts.de/

    ReplyDelete
  101. eeee! :)

I was thinking the same thing xploding boy... I mean they cant just neglect a forest like that!

    ReplyDelete
  102. From CCC:

  103. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yeah, I can see why they'd prefer not to end with 17 Seconds. Wasn't that the usual opener in 1980?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Yeah, I think there was a mixup with Olivier. He has it posted now.

    ReplyDelete
  106. @Xploding_Boy, I thought it was 'A Reflection' into 'Play For Today' back in 1980

    ReplyDelete
  107. Morning CoF Fans :)

Looks like another Epic Cure performance. Thanks to all who are reporting... and Craig of course!

    ReplyDelete
  108. @xploding_boy: yes 17 seconds was mostly the opener in 1980.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I'm not 100% sure Andy. I could've sworn the few boots I had from that year started with 17 Seconds. It's been a while though. I'll check right now to see what I can find.

    ReplyDelete
  110. So I'm not sure it's "The Holy Hour" but it sure as hell is 4am here. :P

    ReplyDelete
  111. Sorry about that. I think Olivier misunderstood what I was asking him.

    Good morning, Morris.

    ReplyDelete
  112. This just in! RSX sang 21 "again's" during 'A Forest'. Really sticking it to the album.

    ReplyDelete
  113. According to cure-concerts.de it looks like they did both during that tour:

    some shows started

    1-A Reflection
    2-Play For Today

    and others

    1-Seventeen Seconds
    2-Play For Today

    ReplyDelete
  114. 'Seventeen Seconds' was both the opener AND the closer at points during that tour, and was in fact sometimes played TWICE during the set.

    ReplyDelete
  115. So is Robert playing "Period Correct" guitars??? :)

    ReplyDelete
  116. @Xploding_Boy & Shawn,

Good work guys. I didn't know this.

    The More You Know!

    ReplyDelete
  117. @Morris, I heard he's playing the black and orange Jazzmaster

    ReplyDelete
  118. @shawn you´re right! my first concert was only in munich, january 31st 1984.

    ReplyDelete
  119. @ Morris: from the few pix I saw it looks like Robert was using the Jazzmaster. Maybe even 2 different ones. Too blurry to tell for sure though but I'm sure there will be better pix soon.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Subway song sounds amazing. Hope someone films "Doubt" too. Can't wait to hear that live.

    ReplyDelete
  121. It looks like he was playing a sunburst Jazzmaster in TIB as an homage to his old Top 20 guitar, maybe? And the white Jazz for 17 seconds, which I would assume he'll play for Faith as well. The soundcheck picture is a BassVi... I think.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Andy, no problem. :) I wonder if the band is going to play the album version of 'Three' tomorrow night, and then whip out a 15 minute version of 'A Forest'. That would be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  123. @ J: Good point about the Sunburst. I thought it was kind of odd but you're probably right about it being an homage to the old Top 20. Soundcheck pic is definitely a Fender VI.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Lol must be having an out of body experience right about now! How cool to be back on stage with Robert :)

I didn't think this was going to happen until the Cure were put into the R&R Hall of Fame! This evening is much more special!

    ReplyDelete
  125. another video of the audience if you havent seen

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HWLomM7I9E

    ReplyDelete
  126. Thanks for that Andy. It looks like he has at least 3 Jazzmasters with him tonight. The sunburst and black one don't seem to have the usualy top 20 pickup added in the middle. I haven't seen the white one close up yet to see if it's one that one.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Now Olivier knows! : )

"Took a sneak peek at the encores on a computer monitor, it's gonna be AMAZING!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  128. Uh, Morris, when were The Cure inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

    ReplyDelete
  129. @Shawn, he meant that he didn't think Lol would rejoin the band onstange until and if that ever happened.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Oh yes now they playing songs from Faith! This will be epic. I hate to to missing it!

    ReplyDelete
  131. @Xploding_Boy, they have 2 bass guitars on 'Primary'!!!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Andy, I just re-read his statement. Oops!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Is Lol playing drums instead of Jason for this set, or is he on keys ?

    ReplyDelete
  134. Lol must be in cloud nine! So glad he got to play again with The Cure.

    ReplyDelete
  135. i guess lol is on percussions right now

    ReplyDelete
  136. Are cameras there for this show tonight? On all pics I have seen I havent really noticed the big poles and stuff?

    ReplyDelete
  137. Olivier says Lol is playing keys and drums. Keys right now for All Cats Are Grey.

    ReplyDelete
  138. But Jason is still on drums. Lol adds percussion.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Should be, Aaron. Both nights are being filmed.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I think Olivier says that Lol played drums during Other Voices.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Lol played the closing notes on ACAG. Very nice touch!

    ReplyDelete
  142. Go Lol! Go! So happy for him and Roger.

    ReplyDelete
  143. great that the missing encores from the trilogy concert (m, play for today, a forest, grinding halt, boys don't cry (hopefully if they play it!)) at least make it to the forthcoming dvd!

    ReplyDelete
  144. For the first time ever - Doubt!!!

    ReplyDelete
  145. All Cats are Grey... takes me back to Atlanta 2000!!! Wish i was there tonight for the Lol version :) :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  146. i'm very curious how the cure line up for the bestival concert in september will look like!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Hahaha...Roger on Tambourine for Doubt!

    ReplyDelete
  148. no the gap ist closed! doubt live! and the tamnbourine twitter post finally came true!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Thanks to all of the cure fans who are sharing their experiences, photos & videos with us. I am loving it! And Thanks to Craig for his hard work with posting all this great stuff. I haven't been posting much on here or any cure fan websites for a long while but I am so happy to say the COF is still the best. Now I am off to work, wish I could stay till the end of the show!

  151. Little off topic, but is there anyway to see the Facebook pictures without being on Facebook?

    ReplyDelete
  152. @J, it depends on the privacy settings of the person who uploaded or the album in question.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Hmm, not that I know of, but I'm really not a Facebook user at all.

    ReplyDelete
  154. @Craig, I'm a recovering Facebook user.

    ReplyDelete
  155. OK! I'm totally blown away by that Subway Song clip!!!!!

Robert killing it on guitar!!! and harmonica!!!

I go the biggest smile on my face...

Thank You So Much for posting that!!!

    ok-sry-heavy-Cure-freak-out :):):)

    ReplyDelete
  156. So, are they going to play 'Faith' straight, or give us an extended version?

    ReplyDelete
  157. I was just asking because I can't see pics # 2,3 and 5 above.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Shawn: We will know soon. Fingers crossed for the extended version.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Regular Faith, not extended. : (

    Maybe tomorrow?

    ReplyDelete
  160. And now the real fun starts! : )

    ReplyDelete
  161. I'm not surprised. Let's hope for it tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  162. Wow, I was thinking about World War yesterday, but I deemed it far too unlikely. Glad to be wrong. :)

    ReplyDelete
  163. Wow! B-sides to the first three albums is where I imagine they'll go.

    ReplyDelete
  164. 'World War'! Wow, has that ever been played live before this show?

    ReplyDelete
  165. Do we think Killing An Arab will happen or will it be Killing Another?

    ReplyDelete
  166. Screw Reflections at Bestival. Can we get a Join the Dots tour?

    ReplyDelete
  167. @shawn: yeah, world war seems to be another world premiere!

    ReplyDelete
  168. I was just about to say that, Andy! : )

    ReplyDelete
  169. Oh man, I wonder if they'll do Winter!?? I would've guessed not but I also wouldn't have guessed that World War was gonna be played.

    ReplyDelete
  170. ok, boys don't cry has to be!

    ReplyDelete
  171. Craig, watch your language. Children read COF, too. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  172. I'd have wanted 'Play With Me'. I like that outtake from 3IB

    ReplyDelete
  173. Dare we hope for Do The Hansa and Pillbox Tales?

    ReplyDelete
  174. Olivier says it's Killing Another.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Damn, still good to have it played anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  176. @Xploding_Boy, did you see my post earlier about Primary being played with 2 basses?

    ReplyDelete
  177. Are you guys thinking Jumping Someone Else's Train into Another Journey to end this encore since they were played at soundcheck?

    ReplyDelete
  178. Yeah Andy. I saw that. Saw your mention of it in Cure Connections too. :)

    ReplyDelete
