Vivid curator Stephen Pavlovic on The Cure

Vivid Live Festival curator Stephen Pavlovic on why he booked The Cure (from The West Australian): "It was a 100 per cent selfish motive. I love them... I have always been a major fan," he said."They are very emotive and expressive. They recognise that the world doesn't exist on sunshine alone."...."I would say that The Horrors have captured the look. Interpol has captured the vibe, but no one has captured the magic. And that's why The Cure stand alone as The Cure." (Thanks David)

'Reflections' pages

Just a note to say I've created 2 new pages for the 'Reflections' shows. This one is a sort of a FAQ about the shows, and this one is for specific info & tips about getting tickets and SOH info. Hope you find them useful. Once ticket sales are over, we can use it for selling extra tickets, planning fan meet ups/parties/events, requests for help with room & ride sharing, or anything else you guys need help with.

Update: And Grinderman has kindly offered to help with any questions you have about the Sydney Opera House. Just post a question in the comments. Thanks, Grinderman!

Statement from Lol

From Lol on Facebook: "thank you everyone for your kind words! Yes I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again and playing these wonderful songs in such a beautiful place! Truth is truly stranger than Fiction!"

Welcome back, Lol! Can't wait to see you with them once again. And thank you for suggesting the 'Faith' shows to Robert!

Statement from Roger

Excerpt from Roger's 99X/10 newsletter: "Many times over the last few years I wondered and have often been asked "would you play again with The Cure" .. There were times I was sad and some times bitter and said stupid things. When you love somebody/something as much as I have loved The Cure those times will always of course be difficult, breaking up is awful. My love for the band and the music always said yes to the answer though. The last thing Robert and I said on that phone call in 2005 was "never say never"... "

Welcome back, Roger! Hope you enjoy it more than ever before!

Well, the Sydney Morning Herald leaked it early...The Cure will play 'Three Imaginary Boys', 'Seventeen Seconds', and 'Faith', in their entirety, each night, as part of Vivid Live at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall. They will be joined for part of the show by Lol Tolhurst and Roger O'Donnell!

A quote from Robert in the NME: "We have played a lot of memorable shows in Australia, we first performed here in 1980, and this will be our seventh trip – but it will be our first time onstage in the Sydney Opera House," said singer Robert Smith. "We want to do something unique to mark the occasion … combining The Cure members past and present in a live filmed interpretation of our first three albums. Feels to me like it should do the trick."

Another Day...

...another cryptic message from Roger:

- Oh I do like to be beside the seaside, oh I do like to be beside the sea... Staring at the sea, wearing a kiss me quick hat ah the memories!

Old memories are great. Creating new ones is even better. : )

The Funeral Party

Interesting tweets from Roger today. Black clothes and a tambourine? Must be going to a Funeral Party. ; )

rogerodonnell - Alright thats it, Im off out to buy some new black clothes... Sadly no Helmut Lang!....
rogerodonnell....and a new tambourine....

Hahaha...Roger reminds me that he has an upcoming gig at WGT, which he says is the biggest goth festival in Europe, and that the tambourine is just a present for his brother's birthday. And I suppose that his googling about the water flow in Australia is due to his new plumbing business in Oz. : )
